[b]Summary[/b]
McAfee products will be tested against and supported with all Microsoft service packs and critical updates (including monthly security updates) for the operating systems supported by those McAfee products as follows:
For Service Packs - within 30 business days of the official Microsoft GA date
For critical updates - within 5 business days of the official Microsoft GA date.
Exceptions to this policy will only be in cases where significant issues are found in any compatibility testing McAfee performs and in those cases a specific announcement will be made. This policy applies to all McAfee products designed to run on Microsoft platforms.
Support for Windows 2008 and Vista SP1 is one such exceptional case.
McAfee has been testing Host IPS with builds of Microsoft Server 2008 and Vista SP1 since Q3 2007. Many of the changes made to the operating system during the product development period has required moderate or significant modifications to the McAfee Host IPS product.
McAfee has now completed the development required for compatibility with the final release versions of Vista SP1 and Windows 2008 as released by Microsoft. The modifications to the Host IPS code are currently passing through McAfee QA testing, a process that takes some months to complete. Since the end date of this testing falls close to the scheduled Patch 2 cycle for Host IPS and other McAfee system security products (see Knowledgebase article 614019) McAfee will build the updated Operating system support into Host IPS 7.0 Patch 2 to reduce customer impact.
McAfee Host IPS 7.0 Patch 2 will be available in June 2008.
